Job Opportunity - Raceday Judge (Southern Harness Racing)

Southern Harness Racing is seeking a reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Official Raceday Judge for our harness racing meetings throughout the Southland and Otago regions.

This is a key position within our raceday team, responsible for determining official race results and announcing them to the public.

Key Details:

• Involves both weekday and weekend work, including some public holidays
• Required for in excess of 50 race meetings per racing season across multiple venues
• Must be reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Requires physical fitness – Judges’ towers are located at the top of grandstands at all venues
• You must have your own vehicle and be prepared to travel between racing venues
• Must demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in decision-making and time-sensitive tasks
• Confidence is essential – the Judge must be comfortable speaking over the on-course PA system
• Strong teamwork skills are required – you’ll be working closely with other raceday officials
• Strong attention to detail – ability to accurately differentiate between horse numbers and drivers’ colours

This role may be shared between two people to ensure the workload is manageable throughout the busy Southern racing calendar.
